Owner and President, Sanura Young
Sanura Young is the Owner and President of the Momentum Agency. The Momentum Agency is a boutique event management firm catering specifically to Corporate, Nonprofit and Public sectors. She began to develop the concept for this business in 2009, as she pondered what aspects of the industry were not being addressed.
Sanura has been working events since middle school, since her mother has been in the industry for over 30 years. But it wasn’t until later in life that she realized that her natural attention to detail, her ability to multitask, and her eye for design made her a “natural” and would allow her to excel as an event planner. She attended Benedictine University in Lisle, IL receiving a B.A. in Business and Economics. After graduation she took an event management position with a nonprofit organization and really began to lay the foundation of her knowledge of event management and logistics. A few years later she accepted a Convention Services Management position with a nonprofit agency were she successfully ran major tradeshows and conventions across the country.
True to her nature she began seeking the next challenge and was offered a position in The Mayor’s Office of Special Events for the City of Aurora, IL. She added to her skill sets in that arena/environment by managing governmental events and sitting on 5 community and city boards as a city liaison. In addition to all of this she decided to go back to school to obtain her M.B.A with a concentration in Strategic Leadership graduating in the fall of 2010 from Aurora University at the top of her class.
In addition to raising 3 children with her husband, She is the President of the Quad County African American Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Chairperson for the Dupage NAACP. She also sits as a board member for the William and Mary Davis Foundation and as a member of the Fermi Lab Community Advisory Board. She has built community coalitions and strategic partnerships within the area with many vendors and relevant organizations that foster synergistic opportunities.. Her 10 years of formal event management training, the ability to form and maintain strategic partnerships, her drive to exceed expectations, and the vision to carry it out from concept to after event wrap up makes her an undeniable force in the industry.
